Here you're invited to rid yourself of those tell-tale tan lines. You can swim and sunbathe unencumbered in your birthday suit. On the southern end of Orient Beach you'll find the clothing optional beach.
Orient Beach is St. Martin's flagship beach and is often referred to as the "French Riviera of the Caribbean". But Hurricane Irma in September Irma hasn't been kind to the amazing selection of beach bars and gourmet eatiers... they all got swooped away and today, the beach appears pristine and undeveloped, as it has been in the Seventies. The local government plans to rebuild based on different zoning regulations, but it will take a while.
Even though the naturist resort Club Orient has been destroyed and reconstruction will take a few years, one famous institution has reopened: 'Perch Bar Lite' is the name of the quickly constructed beach bar, which keeps the spirit of Orient Beach alive. Great frozen drinks, lounge chairs and umbrellas are available along the beach. There is also safe parking on the premissed of Club O. Don't be discouraged by the fact that the resort debris hasn't been cleaned up.
If you visit the island by cruise ship, you will find taxis readily available at the cruise ship pier. Rates for the 20 minute drive to Orient Beach are fixed – confirm with your taxi driver the precise cost for the trip.
