Close geographical proximity of several world-renowned offshore centers allows it to structure an offshore investment solution without much traveling and cost. Representatives of Anguillian law firms (Anguilla is a neighboring island and a British colony, and as such income-tax free) maintain a presence on St Maarten.
Several banks allow offshore bank accounts for Anguillian corporations to be administered and used for withdrawals and deposits right here on St Maarten. Note that the trip to Anguilla is not a great inconvenience: the ferry ride from Marigot, capital of the French side, is a twenty-minute affair and costs only $15. Other offshore destinations are the British Virgin Islands and Nevis - both within a thirty-minute plane ride. Within the Dutch associated islands, Aruba offers well priced offshore solutions.
There are several well regarded trust companies operating in Sint Maarten, and they will be able to provide both advice and services.
